It’s been a long time since I’ve updated this blog. I’m going to try to be much better at this. Work around the forge has continued. There’s finally a new rubber roof on the building and my new office space has been finished. Whoever decided a flat roof was a good idea in Maine should have their sanity checked. Being cheap I’ve tried to do all of the work myself with the help of my father in law and a few friends when needed.
Now the showroom of the forge has been stripped and is getting rewired and ready for a complete makeover. The new showroom will be approximately three times larger than the old one. That’s a lot of space to fill…
On the working side of the shop I’ve got the old chimney torn down and am moving all of the equipment around to better the work flow. The next step in that process is to build a good tool room for storage of the smaller and lesser used tools. Then its time to construct a decent cutting table and stock racks, and to figure out the placement of the power hammers, fly press, forges, anvils, vices, platen table, hack saw, iron worker, and the rest of the jumble. Hopefully I can get back into full production sometime in the near future…
